Pre season update.

Unfortunately the Hindsford trophy match v Howe Bridge due to take place at Atherton Collieries on Tuesday 17th July has fallen victim of the recent wet weather. A new date will be confirmed in due course.
The friendly against Runcorn Linnets on Thursday at Brocstedes Park is also in the balance and will depend the weather between now and Thursday Morning when an inspection will take place.

Home tie draw in FA Vase first qualification round

The draw for the first qualification round has delivered a home match against Doncaster based Rossington Main from Division 1 of the North East Counties League. Rossington finished at the wrong end of their league last season but with a new management team due to be put in place imminently they will be an unknown quantity. Link to rossingtons web site -

The game will be played on Saturday 8th September 2007 at Brocstedes Park and will be Ashton's first forray in the competition. The winners of this tie will then go on to play at Congleton on the 22nd September, which will be a return to familiar pastures for Club skipper Steve Rothwell.

REVISED PRE SEASON ARRANGEMENTS

PRE SEASON FIXTURE AND TRAINING AMENDMENTS

The pre season build up is at full pace with fitness levels improving by the session as the friendlies and pre season competition matches loom large on the horizon.

The training sessions on Saturdays will now start at the earlier time of 1.30pm at St Edmund Arrowsmith School, whilst the Tuesday and Thursday sessions will remain a 7pm start at the same venue.

The busy sequence of interesting friendlies and pre season tournaments will get under way on 17th July in the guise of the Hindsford Cup, which has changed its format to a 7 team league, following the withdrawal of Wigan Robin Park FC from the competition.

Meanwhile the date for the AAFC Vets v Wigan Athletic Past Playyers has been re scheduled for Wednesday 5th September, 7.30pm KO at Brocstedes Park.
