Update: An entertaining match between two good sides ended up a 2-2 draw which was probably a fair result. Ashton started brightly and were the best team for the first 20 minutes going into the lead with a well worked goal in the 9th minute from Lewis Boyd. AFC equalised in the 22nd minute going in front on 36 mins with a superb strike. Ashton struggled with the threat, particularly down the left flank until the break. HT 2-1.
The second half saw the introduction of Dale Korie-Butler and Josh Nicholson and an increased threat, with Ethan Beckford playing more central again. Beckford was brought down in the 61st minute and Korie-Butler converted the penalty. 2-2.
Ashton were more dominant in the second period.
The game could have gone either way and a mention must go to James Aspinall the Ashton keeper who pulled off some superb saves throughout.
The game continued from end to end but neither side could find the quality to break the dead lock.
Full Time 2-2.

A trip down the M58 motorway sees The Yellows back in league action against AFC Liverpool this Tuesday night. A disappointing loss against Abbey Hey in the FA Vase was a set back but hopefully now we can fully focus on climbing up the league table.
AFC are in 12 th position and had an excellent result at home beating Charnock Richard 5-3 on Saturday. Another tough test for The Yellows. 19-45 kick off
