After an early pitch inspection yesterday at 10-30 am AFC Fylde got the go ahead to take on Ashton Athletic in the evening at Kellamergh Park in the Lancashire FA Challenge Trophy.
It turned out to be a great result for Ashton Athletic as they beat AFC FYLDE 2 goals to nil, thanks to both goals being scored by striker Danny Smith. It was a solid performance away from home in the cup and we now look forward to a good run in this competition.
Our chairman Jimmy Whyte said last night "Just got back from AFC Fylde after a fantastic night and game. Ashton Athletic Fc won the game 2 nil but the hospitality we were shown by our hosts was incredible. From pulling up on the car park to leaving the stadium at the end of the game, we were treated impeccably. Thank You once again AFC Fylde."
Dave Challinor the disappointed AFC Fylde manager said "We had more than enough on the pitch to win that game and that’s taking nothing away from Ashton. They worked hard and stopped us playing."
Well done boys fantastic result, we all look forward to the next game at home to Barnoldswick Town on Saturday 14th of November - 3 pm kick off.
