Ashton Athletic 3 Atherton LR 3 - Sat 13th Apr

In a thrilling season finale, Ashton Athletic and Atherton Laburnum Rovers battled to a 3-3 draw at Brocstedes Park.

There was a bright start to Ashton's last game of the season. After just 5 minutes Dek Hill directed Chris Cottington's free-kick just wide of the post.
Unfortunately, Atherton LR showed their quality, taking the lead in the 8th minute.
Despite Ashton's efforts, which included Jack Smith's powerful shot from range and a Ross Ellison header, saved from a Josh Nicholson free kick. The visitors held on to their lead until halftime. 0-1

The second half witnessed an explosion of goals. Jack Smith levelled the score with a brilliant solo effort in the 52nd minute. Smith doubled his tally just two minutes later with another impressive strike. Ellison extended Ashton's lead to 3-1 in the 59th minute.
However, Atherton LR fought back, scoring twice to get back into the game and to level the score at 3-3, which included a dramatic penalty conversion in stoppage time.

The match concluded in a thrilling 3-3 draw, providing spectators with an entertaining end to the season. Both teams displayed resilience and attacking prowess, showcasing the unpredictable nature of football.
