The Yellows return to league action against AFC Darwen

AFC Darwen will be a completely different type of game to the Mossley fixture, but with our strikers on fire and everyone in good form we hope to continue our good run and keep playing good football.

Ashton Athletic welcome AFC Darwen to Brocstedes Park on Tuesday night on the back of one of the biggest victories in the club's history.

The Yellows entertained Mossley AFC in the 1st Qualifying Round of the Emirates FA Cup in what could be described as very wet conditions. The Yellows took the lead in the 2nd minute after Adam Gilchrist scored his first of the afternoon. Mossley got into the game and in the 37th minute a penalty was given by the assistant for shirt pulling at a corner and Kyle McGonigle levelled the score in theh 37th minute. 5 minutes later, it was 2-1 to the Yellows when Adam Gilchrist got his 2nd of the game. Then 2 minutes after that goal it was 3-1 to the Yellows. Isaac Kusaloka was brought down in the box by the Liam Flynn and Joel Brownhill stepped up to convert the penalty. Mossley pulled a goal back 5 minutes after half time when Andy Keighley fired the ball past Martin Pearson in the corner of the net, but that's as good as it got for the Lilywhites as Sam Bailey made it 4-2 from a header off a pin point Adam Howard cross. Isaac Kusaloka took his tally to 9 goals for the season when he scored in the 76th and 90th minute and Adam Gilchrist completed his hat-trick in the 85th minute.

AFC Darwen will be looking to continue with their unbeaten run in the league. After losing the first 4 games of the season, conceding 17 goals and scoring 1, they travelled to The Royal British Legion Stadium to beat Squires Gate 3-2 and held AFC Liverpool to a 2-2 draw at the WEC Group Anchor Ground.

Matthew Williams putting the Reds 1-0 up 4 minutes before half time with Karl Turner equalising for AFC Darwen 4 minutes after the break. Matthew Williams thought he had won it for AFC Liverpool but Ryan McKenna grabbed a last minute goal to level the score at 2-2 and to share the points.

AFC Darwen started their 2015/16 Premier Division campaign at Brocstedes Park. With the game heading for a draw, the Yellows brought Aaron Morris on and he provided the assist for Richie Livingston to tap in the winner in the 80th minute.
