Match Report Ashton Athletic U13 V Hesketh Girls U13
Ashton Athletic 0 Hesketh Girls 3
Ashton started well in the first two minutes with early pressure, but on 3 minutes Hesketh broke away and scored with a low shot past the Ashton Stand in keeper Xenia Jackson.
On the left wing for Ashton, Hannah Chlodek was giving the hesketh girls a torrid time with her skill and pace. After one of her brilliant runs, Hanna’s shot just evaded the far post, and would have been contender for goal of the season had it found the net. Teagan Bibby had a shot from just outside the box which the goalkeeper collected.
Hesketh scored their second from a free kick from just outside the box, their number 7 struck a fierce shot which Xenia had no chance of getting. A third followed a minute later when a long range shot hit the underside of the bar and bounced down and back in play, which resulted in the referee deeming the ball had crossed the line. The rest of the first half was even with both sides going close. Hannah had a good shot well saved and at the other end Xenia produced a good save when palming a stinging shot around the post.
In the first 5 mins saw both teams on the attack, with Teagan having a shot turned away by the keeper. As the game was progressing it was all Ashton and if you had only just come to watch the game at this point , you would have thought it was Ashton leading 3-0. A great spin and run from Scarlett McHugh produced a shot just wide of the post. There were a couple of shots wide from Emily Bourne, who was always in the game from the right wing and worked her socks off throughout. Teagan Bibby had a couple more shots, one that went just wide and one saved by the keeper. The girls really were having no luck and were really building pressure without any end result.
FT Ashton Athletic 0 Hesketh Girls 3
A strange game for Ashton who had most of the game but nothing to show for it. The second half showing was a real show of character from the girls, as at 0-3 down at half time they could of let their heads drop. Great credit to all of them they kept fighting and believing they could get something from the game. Girl of the match was close as they all put a shift in, but Emily Bourne put in a really good performance from the right wing. Hard working, never stopped running and her passing was good all game. Special mention to Xenia for stepping up to go in goal for missing goalkeeper Charlotte, well done Xenia.
