Ashton came from behind twice to force a replay in the FA Cup against Maltby Main. The visitors started off at a high tempo and put us under pressure right from the kick off.
Maltby took the lead with a deflected shot past Martin Pearson and at the other end a great effort from Ashton rattled the woodwork. It looked like it was going to be one of those days but Ashton continued to play their football and get back into the game.
Indeed we got our just rewards as Callum Maloney finished well to equalise before half time and we were back in the game.
Good efforts from Paul Watson and Ian Rowlands finished off a good end to the first half.
The second period was much the same as both teams were evenly matched before Maltby again took the lead with a goal from their striker Dean Conway.
Again Ashton took the set back in their stride and put plenty of pressure on the Maltby defence but with no clear cut chances until Aaron Morris stepped up and finished well after an excellent move.
Full time was 2-2 with the replay set for Wednesday night the 19th at 7-45 pm.
Jay Foulds the Ashton co-manager was positive after the game saying "We get to put it right on Wednesday! I'm sure the Ashton boys will finish the job".
