The home side produced some of their best football of the season on a cold night at Brocstedes. The Yellows had been in fine form of late and made easy work of a poor Blackpool side, Ashton were quickly infront when Paul Watson bundled the ball into the visitors goal, shortly after Louis Edwards scored his first goal for the club when he met a Bailey corner to send Ashton into a comfortable lead, further goals followed from the strike duo of Gilchrist and Small to send the home side 4 up at half time.
Ashton made it 5 in the 48th minute when Watson grabbed his 2nd with a accurate finish that found the keepers top right corner, more chances went begging as Ashton pilled on the pressure but with no more goals coming the home side were left wandering what could of been.
A comfortable win against a team that are struggling near the foot of the table , some outstanding performances from the likes of Watson and Greene who terroised the AFC left back at times.
Please note we have no fixture this weekend due to St Helens being drawn at home in the FA Vase
