A superb display down at Brocstedes Park saw Ashton Athletic run out 4 nil winners against close rivals in the league 1874 Northwich.
The first half was some of the best football the team has played all season and they completely dominated the opposition.
The first goal was scored by Richie Livingston from a Ryan Small cross and the second came soon after as Ian Rowlands rose above the Northwich defence to glance a header right into the corner of the net from a corner kick.
The half time score was 2 nil to Ashton which could have been more and without much threat from Northwich.
Within minutes of the restart we were 3 up as Adam Gilchrist finished easily from a Danny Regan cross, who had gathered the ball from a poor clearance and sprinted past the helpless Northwich defence.
The rain kept falling in the second half making life really difficult for the players and chances were few and far between for long spells.
Ashton's defence held firm with Martin Pearson making some good saves in awful conditions. As time wore on Northwich began to tire and were caught out with good through balls on a number of occasions. One of which saw Man of the Match Danny Regan again break away and out run the defenders to finish sublimely in the bottom corner. 4 nil to Ashton which capped off a fantastic performance by the whole team.
Next game is away at Alsager Town - Saturday Oct 10th, KO 3 PM
