The Yellows breeze past the Millers

Ashton went into today's game knowing that only a win would do after a disappointing display last time out v Cammell Laird.
The trio handed a debut to striker Lee Vaughan who had agreed terms earlier in the week from Barnton, they also named Corey Harrison on the bench for his first game having impressed in earlier weeks with the development squad.
Ashton started with a 442 formation with Regan partnering new boy Vaughan, skipper Watson failed a fitness test which meant Webster and Farnworth where in the heart of the Yellows midfield, with Adam Howard away in Wales,it was up to Bailey to fill the number 3 shirt. Brownhill was once again working.
Ashton started off the brightest and saw 3 clear cut chances go begging within the first 10 minutes, firstly Cusani had his scrambled shot well saved from the Millers no1, then Regan rounded the visiting keeper, but a extra touch allowed the keeper to some how claw the ball back when a empty net was beckoning , and finally it was that man again Cusani who watched the keeper throw his hat on his timid shot.
Ashton were now well on top and it was only a matter of time before they broke the deadlock,
A neat throw ball from the lively Smith found Vaughan one on one with keeper, he calmly took his time and slotted the ball underneath the helpless away stopper to send the home fans into raptures.
Further chances went begging but with half time fast approaching it was that man again Vaughan who doubled the home sides lead. A further deflected goal from Smith was to follow and the home side were sitting pretty with a 3-0 HT lead.
The second half started as the first finished, chance after chance went begging, the Millers defence was now stretched as they looked to try and get something out the game, Regan was working his size 12s off in search of a goal but to no avail, the crowd were treated to a few show boating moments from the impressive Cusani but New Mills stood firm and kept the goals to just the 3 for the afternoon.
