Ashton Athletic made the trip to the sea side with 4 players making there debuts for the club and put in a much improved performace after the shambles of Saturday's Cup defeat to Bacup.
But again luck deserted the yellows and on 15 minutes Ryan Taylor slipped while trying to cut out a through ball and the Blackpool striker Hull despatched is shot passed the once again overworked Chris Brinksman in the Ashton goal.
The best Ashton had to offer all came in the first half while playing against a strong wind and went close when a Ollie James shot was parried by the underworked Blackpool goalkeeper and scrambled away to safety.
the second half with the wind at there backs should really have seen Ashton put the Blackpool defence under increased pressure, but it did not work out like that and they handled everything we could muster to put together and never really looked in any danger of conceding the equaliser. The game was over as a contest when the Blackpool substitute Pickup shinned the ball from just inside the box straight into the top corner giving Chris Brinksman no chance to make the save.
It gives manager Ian Street something to work on for what have become two very important games coming up, on saturday we travel to Alsager and next Tuesday we host Norton needing the six points more than ever.
