Winsford United continuing their fine recent form with a hard fought 2-1 win at Ashton Athletic. Winsford, in a rich vein of form having won each of their last six league games, took the lead on 33 minutes with Andrew Hurst grabbing his 20th goal of the season even though the in-form striker knew little about it,helping on a free-kick the ball looped high in the air and over keeper Dave Moran ending up in the top corner of the goal to give Winsford the lead.
Half Time 0-1
Ashton came out firing in the second half and deserved to equalise and it came just before the hour mark, Justin Yun's first goal for Ashton levelled things up, but Hurst added another with 20 minutes remaining to secure victory for his side, following a goal mouth scramble the ball came from the grasp of Dave Moran and although it bobbled about a bit the forward managed to steer it home.
Martyn Jackson took all the plaudits with an outstanding mid-field display and although the yellows came out of the game with no points, the performace must have given the home side a lot of encouragement for the weeks ahead. With good performaces throught the team especialy debutants Danny Smith, Connor Anderson, and Connor Gately. who have settled in well alongside the regular players on duty.
