The Yellows playing the first game since hammering Alsager Town 4-0 started off sluggishly and never realy hit the form that earned them the win against Alsager in what seemed like an age ago.
All the first half chances fell to Ashton but slack finishing and a poor final ball seemed to be the norm for the night ahead. It was from a rare breakaway that WRP scored the first goal off the game on 43 minutes, a long ball out of defence saw Edger overhit his cross to the back post only for Livingstone to send the ball back in to the 6 yard box for Hatton to head home for the home side.
The second half was barley two minutes old when slack marking allowed Quirk to wriggle free and send a shot past Dave Moran and in to the bottom far corner to make the score 2-0. That was realy the last action the keeper seen with the Yellows camped out in the WRP half but the final ball was always letting them down, and when it appeared we had found a goal from Gareth Grant, a superb neader from a corner the referee somehow managed to spot a foul on the keeper that only he saw [and that includes the WRP keeper] to rule the goal out.
The game saw us huff and puff but in fairness to WRP they seen out the game without any real danger and finished deserved winners.
We now move on to Norton United FC for our next game hopefully with the rustyness now out of the players and a more determined attitude along with it.
