THE YELLOWS ARE RAMPANT AS THEY HIT THE SAINTS FOR SIX

Ashton show no mercy on the saints as we score 6 for the second home league game in a row.
The yellows started off the better and were soon in the lead as former saints man Phil Williams pounced on a mistake to slot the ball home from 18 yards after only 9 minutes.
With Adam Gilchrist, Ryan Small and Phil Williams a constant threat, it was only a matter of time before the home side doubled there lead, chances went begging before Small deservedly doubled the lead. A deflected shot fell into his path and he calmly disoatched his effort into the top corner to send the yellows in 2 up at half time.
AA 2-0 STH
It was the turn of another former saints player to get on the scoresheet as Adam Gilchrist watched his low shot decieve the Town keeper and nestle low into corner to extended the home sides advantage.
Ashton made their first sub as they sent on their u18s skipper Ben Graham who replaced Gilchrist, Williams then made 4 after only 58 minutes as St Helens feared the worst, the management then threw on Mike Rowlinson for his debut as he replaced Ben Kay who was pulling the strings from midfield.
With 15 minutes remaining it was the turn of Sam Bailey to get in on the act as he had the easiest of tap ins from only 3 yards out, straight away from the kick off Luke Holden decided to acrobatically put the ball past a helpless Jay Foulds in the home goal to make it 5-1.
Former yellow Andy Gillespie then pulled another 1 back as his mazy run saw him beat Foulds and 2 Ashton defenders to rifle his shot into a empty net.
With time running out there was still time for Small to grab his second and Ashton's 6th to round off another superb result after Saturdays dissapointment.
Some great football played at times and was nice to see youngster Reece Broadhurst make his debut at right back who had a outstanding game.
Saturday we are on quarter final duty as we travel to Runcorn Linnets.
