The Yellows welcome the Bears from Congleton for the opening game of the season, with Congleton making some really good signings in the off season, Ashton knew this was going to be a tough start to their campain.
Ashton started the brighter with Adam Howard producing some telling crosses in the early stages, but it was the visitors who had the first real chance, a dangerous cross from the left was curled in, the rebound fell to Barlow who watched his shot firstly hit the post with the following rebound hitting the crossbar to the travelling fans amazement.
Ashton took the lead mid way through the first half, good work dowm the left from Paul Casey and Adam Storey led to Adam Howard who saw his cross come shot totally decieve the Bears keeper to give the home side a deserved lead. Further chances fell to Storey but the Yellows could not find that second goal they needed
HT 1-0
The second half started brightly for the visitors, a change in formation seemed to do the trick as they took the game to Ashton. Lever was called into action to save low down to his left after good work from Killen and Barlow.
Congleton where back on level terms in the 69th minute when Hudson managed to squeeze a pin point cross onto the head of Barlow who could not miss from 6 yards out, further chances fell to both teams but in the end a 1-1 draw was a fair result.
Ashton gave debuts to both Danny Lever and Adam Storey, with Jordan Wilson, Andrew Mawdesley and Chris Mather all being named on the bench for the first time in a Yellow shirt.
Danny Lever took the MOM award but on a personal note, Adam Howard should of took it, unplayable at times on the left, scored the goal amd was a constant threat with his pin point crosses.
Wednesday we travel to the home of Marine FC to take on AFC Liverpool.
