However, despite going down to 10 men Bacup Borough played very well and responded strongly, equalizing through a header from a corner, levelling the score at 1-1 in the 70th minute.

Both teams displayed resilience in defence with goal-line clearances and crucial saves. For Bacup centre-back and goal scorer Scott Johnston and for The Yellows Calum Wilson, Chris Cottington and keeper James Aspinall, ensuring the score remained level until the final whistle.

Despite late pressure from Ashton Athletic, a great strike from Jack Smith hit the post and Bacup Borough's substitute goalkeeper made two crucial saves to deny the hosts a late winner. The match ended in a 1-1 draw, with both teams sharing the points.
